Born and raised in Lake Charles, LA, D’Tara started dancing at the age of 8. Knowing that she wanted to further her passion in dance and major in engineering, she brought her talents to Southern University and A & M College in 2006 upon graduating from high school.
She served as Co-Captain in 2008 and then Captain in 2009 and 2010 of the world renowned Southern University “Fabulous Dancing Dolls” and also graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in Fall of 2010.
Throughout her dancing career, outside of the Southern Dancing Dolls and Human Jukebox performances in front of large audiences, she has also performed with main stream artist in videos and concerts. One of her dreams included performing for Super Bowl XLVII halftime and video with World Pop star Beyonce.
Currently, D’Tara is working in her specified field of engineering and serving as the Dancing Doll Instructor. She is career driven and passionate about her goals, which include positively touching one life at a time, actively seeking opportunities for self progression, raising funds for her dancers to provide competitive scholarships and contribute positively as a role model.
More over, she is excited about becoming apart of the Human Jukebox team, and working under the Director of Bands and one of her mentors, Nathan B. Haymer. She cannot wait to see what the future has in store for the organization. The rest will be history!
